Watarrka NP | Sandstone domes
WI_nt043b.jpg Watarrka NP | Sandstone domes Thumbnails Watarrka NP | Mereenie sandstone

View from Kings Canyon Rim Walk towards southeast. These domes of aeolian Mereenie sandstone go back to a regular grid of cracks, separating the sandstone body into an assemblage of cube-shaped blocks. As the corner points of these blocks are more exposed towards erosion by wind and water than the edges, and the edges are more exposed than the surfaces, rounded surfaces evolve over millions of years.
