Laguna Palcacocha with regenerating glacier and landslide scar
WI_pe058.jpg Cordillera Blanca | Nevado Palcaraju Thumbnails Laguna Palcacocha with meteorological station

Whilst Laguna Palcacocha has grown substantially during the past decades, there is only some minor glacier contact remaining in the rear part of the lake, so that the potential for future growth is limited. The scar in the moraine ridge seen in the right part of the image goes back to a landslide in 2003, causing an impact wave and a minor outburst flood.
