View from Tanque Bajo in NE direction. The town of Garachico was badly damaged by lava flows in 1706. The harbour, at that time the most important of Tenerife, was buried. Sea trade shifted to Puerto de la Cruz and never returned to Garachico. On the other hand, the lava increased the land area and formed some natural pools.
