Macizo de Teno with Barranco de Masca

WI_ctf729.jpg

Once having formed a separate island, the Teno mountains represent one of the oldest parts of Tenerife, and are characterized by deeply incised valleys (barrancos) and a broad variety of ecological niches. The rain-shaded W side is rather arid, but still used for farming, such as here around the village of Masca. Viewpoint near Casas de Araza.
