Due to its central position in the Atlantic Ocean and the Azores, Horta has served as an important hub for sea trade over centuries, a function which is reflected in a rich cultural heritage. The marina remains an important destination for yachting and is particularly popular among circumnavigators. The ship shown in this scene, however, is a ferry connecting Faial with Pico or São Jorge.
