Morning view from the departing Pico-Faial ferry in SE direction to the town of Madalena do Pico and the stratovolcano Montanha do Pico. With an elevation of 2351 m, this highest summit of Portugal reaches above the planetary boundary layer. Therefore, the summit area is much less humid than the rest of the island.
