Calheta de Nesquim with Igreja de São Sebastião

According to legend, the name of this small village in the SE part of Pico goes back to the dog Nesquim, who saved three survivors of a sunken ship by guiding them to the small bay (calheta). The church was consecrated in 1856, but an earlier church building had existed since the 15th century.
