View from the Miradouro da Boca do Inferno to the S part of the caldera of Sete Cidades. This volcanic landscape in the NW part of São Miguel has formed through a long and complex history of mainly explosive eruptions, leaving behind an assemblage of craters and lakes - such as Lagoa Rasa - enclosed in one caldera of 5 km diameter.
