Cordillera de la Sal | Folded rocks

WI_ch339a_202.jpg

View from Pucará de Quitor in SW direction. The Cordillera de la Sal consists of a sequence of clastic and evaporitic sedimentary layers, which evolved in and around an ancient salt flat, and of pyroclastic deposits. The entire package has been tilted and folded due to tectonic compression.
