Cordillera de la Sal | Valle de la Muerte

WI_ch339b_002m.jpg

The Cordillera de la Sal consists of a sequence of young clastic and evaporitic sedimentary layers, which evolved in and around an ancient salt flat, and of pyroclastic deposits. The entire package has been tilted and folded due to tectonic compression, and eroded by runoff connected to heavy rainfall.
