The historic centre of Salzburg has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its good preservation and its fine Baroque architecture. Salzburg cathedral represents an example of such architecture. It was built in the early 17th century in Baroque style, at the place of older cathedrals from the 8th and 12th century.
