This Roman Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité was built between 1163 and 1345 in Gothic Style. It is considered a major masterpiece of medieval architecture and artwork, even though various elements were added or replaced in later periods. The entire roof of the cathedral, including the timber spire, was destroyed in a fire on 15 April 2019, whereas the two bell towers were saved.
