View from Freundsberg castle over Schwaz with the parish church Mariä Himmelfahrt. This town in the lower Inn valley used to be an important centre of silver mining in the 15th and 16th century. At that time, its population was larger than in the early 21st century, and it was the second largest urban place in the Austrian Empire.
