Viewpoint near the Kings Canyon Rim Walk. The canyon's escarpments consist mainly of the aeolian Mereenie sandstone overlaying the older and more erodible Carmichael Sandstone. The domes at the top go back to a regular grid of cracks, separating the sandstone body into an assemblage of cube-shaped blocks. As the corner points of these blocks are most exposed towards erosion, rounded surfaces evolve over millions of years.
