Queensboro Bridge and Roosevelt Island

WI_ny097.jpg

This cantilever bridge spans the East River between Manhattan (background) and Queens (viewpoint). Thereby it passes over Roosevelt Island. Since its completion in 1909, this bridge has carried railway, street car, trolley, road, bicycle and pedestrian traffic. The first three types, however, were later suspended.
