View from Washington Heights (Upper Manhattan) across the Hudson River to New Jersey. The central span of 1067 m was the world's longest from the opening of the George Washington Bridge in 1931 until 1937. With two decks (the lower one was added in 1962), the bridge has 14 lanes in total and was the busiest motor vehicle bridge worldwide in 2015. It also carries bicycle and pedestrian traffic.
