Cordillera Blanca | Lowered level of Laguna Parón

The vegetation patterns indicate the fact that that the original level (4185 m asl.) of this largest lake in the Cordillera Blanca has been lowered: it is controlled through a drainage tunnel for reasons of lake safety. The pyramid-shaped mountain shown in the right central background of the image is the Pirámide de Garcilaso (5885 m).
