This historic fort (Lāl Qila in the Hindustani language) built of red sandstone served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors between the mid 17th and the mid 19th century. Later on it was coverted into a museum complex. In 2007 the Red Fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
