Jantar Mantar represents an assemblage of astronomic instruments put in operation in 1724 under the Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. Comparable astronomic parks were established in four other Indian cities, all of them completed in the first half of the 18th century. This photo shows Rama Yantra which was used to measure the altitude and azimuth of objects.
