The historic Municipality Building in the very centre of Darjeeling - completed in 1921 - reminds of the British history of the town, which goes back to the early 19th Century. Located in the Lesser Himalaya at an elevation of slightly above 2000 m asl., Darjeeling is famous for the internationally recognized tea produced in its surroundings.
