View from Tingling View Point along the Rishi Road between Siliguri and Mirik in southeastern direction. The tea industry has a long tradition in the area of Darjeeling, going back to 1841 when the British introduced the Chinese tea plant (Camellia sinensis). Darjeeling Tea has become an internationally recognized and highly reputed brand.
