Chuquicamata | Former mining town

WI_ch330g_001.jpg

Central square of the mining town which hosted the workers of the copper mine of Chuquicamata for many decades. In the early days it represented a rather closed system, providing many facilities while keeping the miners dependent on the company. The town was abandoned, and the inhabitants were resettled to Calama until 2007.
