The island of Amantaní, with a surface area of slightly less than 10 square kilometres, experiences a relatively mild climate due to the influence of the surrounding Lake Titicaca. The roughly 4000 inhabitants grow various crops on ancient terraces, such as corn, quinoa, oca, and different types of potatoes.
