View in northeastern direction. The reactivation of the Soufrière Hills Volcano in 1995 has resulted in major changes in the landscape in the following years and decades. Pyroclastic flows and lahars have created new land in the eastern part of Montserrat since 1996, for example in the area of Bethel and the former W.H. Bramble Airport.
