Stromboli | Volcanic layers

WI_e2161.jpg

The components of these pyroclastic deposits were ejected by the volcano Stromboli, maybe relocated by fluvial or gravitational processes, and accumulated and consolidated at the beach Forgia Vecchia on the eastern side of the island. The whitish and yellowish material in the lower part of the visible sequence represents a volcanic breccia with large blocks, whereas the red material in the upper part seems to be composed of finer components only.
