The components of these pyroclastic deposits were ejected by the volcano Stromboli, maybe relocated by fluvial or gravitational processes, and accumulated and consolidated at the beach Forgia Vecchia on the E side of the island. The whitish and yellowish material in the lower part of the visible sequence represents a volcanic breccia with large blocks, whereas the red material in the upper part seems to be composed of finer components only.
