View in northern direction to the Stromboli (926 m), with steam emitted from a crater near the summit area. The almost constant eruptions lend the nickname "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean" to this volcanic island north of Sicily, which is part of the Aeolian Islands. The village of Ginostra appears in the lower part of the photo.
