Stromboli | Sciara del Fuoco

WI_e2171.jpg

This depression on the northwestern flank of the volcanic island of Stromboli was formed due to a sector collapse approx. 5000 years ago. It is the scene of sliding and jumping talus scree and partly incandescent pyroclastic fragments produced by frequent eruptions near the summit area.
