The Pantheon is one of the best-preserved ancient Roman buildings. It was completed in the early 2nd century and had the largest dome worldwide for more than 1700 years. The building most likely served as a Roman sanctuary until the early 7th century and has since then been used as a Christian church. It is locally known as "La Rotonda".
