View from Franz-Josefs-Höhe in NW direction to the remnants of the Pasterze, one of Austria's largest glaciers. The proglacial lake formed in the 2010s due to massive recession of the glacier tongue. Großglockner (3798 m) and Glocknerwand (3722 m) are shown behind. Rock fall from the steep mountain face has resulted in a debris cover on the right side of the Pasterze which, to some extent, reduces the recession rate as it protects the ice from solar radiation. Johannisberg (3453 m) appears in the background.
