Franz-Josefs-Höhe with Pasterze and Großglockner

WI_at071_504.jpg

Franz-Josefs-Höhe, view in NW direction to the remnants of the Pasterze, one of Austria's largest glaciers. The proglacial lake formed in the 2010s due to massive recession of the glacier tongue. Großglockner (3798 m) and Glocknerwand (3722 m) are shown in the left centre of the photo, whereas Johannisberg (3453 m) can be seen in the central background. The facilities of Franz-Josephs-Höhe on the right side indicate the mass tourism prevailing at this iconic landmark of Austria.
