The South face of Dobratsch is a geomorphologically highly active zone, with frequent rock falls and occasional large landslides. Therefore, a lot of rocks and debris have accumulated at the base of the mountain, an area therefore known as "Schütt". In 1348, an earthquake-triggered landslide led to disastrous consequences.
