Morning view of Tignes-Le-Lac (foreground) and Tignes-Val-Claret (background, in the shadow) with the glacierized summit of Grande Motte (3653 m) behind. Tignes represents one of the types of winter sports resorts typical for the French Alps. It was mainly developed in the 1960s, detached from the original village of Tignes. Adaptations and extensions in more recent years and decades have aimed at upgrading its appearance.
