This mountain pass, which is a popular destination for cyclists and motorcyclists, connects the valleys of the Tarentaise and the Maurienne. With an elevation of 2764 m, it is one of the highest pass roads in the Alps. The glacierized summit in the left background is the Pointe de Charbonnel (3752 m).
