Members of the ethnic group of the Walser, originating from the Valais in Switzerland, have crossed the Monte Moro Pass and settled in the Anzasca Valley hundreds of years ago. They have brought Swiss architecture, today forming an interesting mixture with Italian-style buildings, and a German dialect which is reflected in some place names.
