Marktplatz in the very centre of Bremen with the city hall (left side) and the Bremen Cathedral (central background). The fair dominating the scene represents a small part of the Freimarkt (Free Fair), held annually in the second half of October. This event dates back to the 11th Century, representing one of the oldest fairs in Germany.
