View across Rathausmarkt to the Hamburg City Hall. Designed in Neo-Renaissance style outside, this building opened its doors in 1897, more than 50 years after the old city hall had been destroyed in a fire. Its original appearance is better preserved than it is the case for most other buildings of historicism in the city.
