This hydropower reservoir, going back to the early 1950s, occupies part of the basin of a Late Glacial lake, which has largely disappeared due to sedimentation. The top water level of the reservoir was decreased after a severe spring flood in 1999, to allow more buffer for flood management. In combination with a generally very low water level in winter, and an extremely dry late winter 2022, this has led to a considerable part of the lake basin presenting itself in dry condition in this scene.
