View in W direction. This baroque palace served as the main summer residence of the Bavarian rulers of the House of Wittelsbach. Construction started in the late 17th Century and, in stages, extended far into the 18th Century. Later, the Nymphenburg Palace evolved into a major tourist attraction and the large park surrounding the complex of buildings serves as a popular recreational area.
