Fogo | Southern slopes with Achada Fuma

WI_cv084.jpg

View from the Bordeira down the S slopes of Fogo to the village of Achada Fuma on the right side and the Atlantic Ocean. The cone in the centre of the picture, some eroded cinder cones, and the lava flow on the left side clearly indicate the volcanic origin of the island. The lush green of the vegetation only persists for few months each year. After the short rainy season, colours quickly turn to yellowish and brownish in October or November, and remain so until the following August.
