Fogo | Southeastern slopes with cinder cone

View from the Bordeira down the SE slopes of Fogo to the Atlantic Ocean. The cinder cone in the centre of the scene, some eroded cinder cones, and the lava flow in the background clearly indicate the volcanic origin of the island. The lush green of the vegetation only persists for few months each year. After the short rainy season, colours quickly turn to yellowish and brownish in October or November, and remain so until the following August.
