View from the slopes of Pico do Fogo down to Portela, one of the two villages of the community of Chã das Caldeiras. Much of this settlement was covered by lava during the volcanic eruption of 2014/15. The roofs and upper parts of some destroyed buildings are still visible, whereas the village - founded in 1920 and largely relying on grape cultivation and tourism - has been rebuilt on top of the lava.
