The stratovolcano Pico do Fogo (2829 m) represents the highest peak of Cape Verde and West Africa, and the second highest of Macaronesia. Its main crater last erupted in the 18th Century, whereas more recent eruptions took place at secondary craters, the last one in 2014/15.
