View from El Junco across the Río Cauca in W direction to the Cordillera Occidental. Rain shade effects result in a mosaic of savanna and grassland ecosystems on the more exposed slopes, and forests in protected gullies. The almost plain surface in the centre of the scene is most likely the top of the deposit of a very old and very large landslide. The Río Cauca has been impounded in this section, forming part of the Hidroituango Reservoir.
