This 225 m high embankment dam on the Cauca River is part of a hydropower project under construction. Operation should have started in late 2018, but a landslide earlier the same year blocked the diversion tunnel. As an emergency measure, the water was led through the power house, causing severe damage there. The dam was completed rapidly, so that the spillway took all the runoff, resulting in this huge human-made waterfall which will persist until the start of full operation of the power plant.
