Since 2004, cable cars connect Medellin's hillside settlements to the Metro lines at the valley bottom, and so facilitate the access to many services. This photo shows Line K. The new transport system has considerably enhanced the quality of life of the economically challenged inhabitants, resulting in a drastic decrease of crime rates. Cable cars for urban mass transport first only existed in Medellín before some other cities, mainly in Latin America, have started to establish comparable systems.
