View from Cerro San Cristobal in W direction. The informal hillslope neighbourhood on the very right side of this photo represents a pueblo joven ("young village"): its upper part developed since around 2000. Such kind of land invasions, mainly by people migrating from the countryside to Lima, shift more and more towards the steeper slopes and the edges of the city, whereas the older settlements (lower left centre of the scene) consolidate over time.
