This is the locally used scheme of the altitudinal belts of the tropical Andes, as shown in the handbook of a tourist guide. The scheme of "tierras" (from tierra caliente to tierra nevada) introduced by Alexander von Humboldt, despite its Spanish-language terms, is mainly used by foreigners and hardly known even by local guides.
