View into the Colca Canyon, deeply incised into the uplifting Andes. The vertical distance between the edge of the canyon and the Río Colca is 1200 m, whereas the highest summits nearby rise more than 3200 m above the valley bottom. Depending on definitions, the Colca Canyon might be considered one of the deepest canyons in the World and has been declared a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2019. The villages on the opposite (N) side are Malata, Cosñirhua, Tapay, and San Juan de Chuccho.
