View in W (downstream) direction. This massive outcrop of bright, predominantly fine-grained pyroclastic rocks exposed at the S bank of the Colca Valley reminds of the importance of explosive volcanic eruptions in the geological history of this valley. The area has been declared a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2019.
